NAKATA HANGER x Senshudo
This is a collaboration between the technique of Senshudo, renowned for crafting Wajima lacquerware in Japan and NAKATA HANGER which has been making wooden hangers for over 70 years.
It is adorned with a motif of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, originally created by Hokusai in 1831, the iconic Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock print artist active in the early 19th century.
【Attention】
To use safely and comfortably, please pay attention to the following points.
・There is a possibility of getting a rash from lacquer depending on one's constitution.
・If you have any symptoms of a rash, please consult a doctor and follow his or her instructions.
・Avoid prolonged exposure to UV rays such as direct sunlight, or exposure to extremely high temperatures or humidity.
The product may become deformed, discolored, or moldy.
・If the product is cracked, chipped, or cracked, do not use it. The condition will become worse and it will not be repairable.
【How to care】
・Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and then wipe with a dry cloth to prolong the life of the product.
・Do not use a scrubber or detergent.
・Do not drop the product or subject it to strong impact as it may be scratched or broken.
・Do not place near fire.
・Do not use chemical cleaning agents. It can lead to a loss of luster.

A handmade jointless hanger carved by our skilled craftsman.
NAKATA KOGEI Co., Ltd. is the only maker specializing in wooden hangers in Hyogo prefecture of Japan since 1946.
The wooden hanger used for Urushi hanger is a jointless hanger made from a single, thick plank of beech wood.
Our craftsman derives a smooth roundness and beautiful curvature from natural wood plank each with its own different wood grain pattern.
Lastly the wooden hanger is carefully polished, and handed over to Wajima for the next procedure.

Urushi lacquering(Wajima city in Ishikawa)

The fine technique of Wajima lacquering taking over the ancient tradition.
Since its founding in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Senshudo has consistently produced some varieties of Urushi lacquerware according to a fine technique approved by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
Each process is finished by well specialized craftsmen using their unique manufacturing method that has long been handed down in Wajima.
The glossy surface like a polished mirror and Maki-e picture with gold leaf and detailed painting show their sophisticated technique.
